Creating a website

Before I started creating my own website I looked at some others as an example of what I could do. I looked as some of my tutors and other photographers too. That is a few of them:

Most of them are pretty simple, they don't have many different pages and hundreds of images.

As I mentioned in previous post I decided to use weebly.com. So to start creating my own website I needed to choose a theme. I chose pretty simple one with the controls on the side and white background. I decided to have my main images on a home page, so everything would be visible straight away and some of my projects on other pages. Most of the stuff is very easy to do using weebly builder, but some of them was harder to do and I needed to edit HTML code, for example to make a page non-clickable.

When I had all my pages set up I uploaded the images and text. Created a contact page on which I also put links to my facebook, linkdin and instagram pages. And it is my new website:

I was thinking a lot what domain name I should use as my name is pretty difficult to spell or pronounce I thought that the shorter it is the easier it is going to be. On my Facebook page I am using name VikDT photography - it is shorter version of my name and surname together, however I am not sure if I want to use this is the future. So I decided to use just my full surname. Due to the fact that there is just like 10 people in the world with the same surname as mine the domain name smidtaite.com was free.

Lastly, weebly.com also lets to see statistics how many people and how many times someone viewed the website.
