Applying for a job

I didn't like any of the example jobs that were given in the class, however while I was creating a LinkedIn profile I found a job that I liked and I could write a cover letter for.

A bit about the Team:

Production is a team of creative professionals; working together to ensure the entire production process is run seamlessly. It’s incredibly diverse, built up of several departments ranging from Studio, Shoot Operations, Retouching, Copy Writing and Production itself. It’s a very busy, very exciting area to be a part of, requiring constant communication between the team, and all the other areas of the business.

As Photographer, you are responsible for working with the Senior Photographers and Studio Team to produce a selection of high quality fashion images. You will have a distinct knowledge of e-commerce and editorial photography and be able to translate this to the studio environment.

The role requires a focused, driven, hardworking individual. You must be able to remain calm and professional in pressured situations while maintaining a positive and proactive attitude. This role demands a team player who is eager to learn and develop and can grasp new information quickly. You will also be flexible and have the ability to think outside of the box and bring new ideas to the team.

It is vital that you are passionate about photography and fashion, and that you have a solid understanding of current trends and how they relate to the ASOS customer.

The Role:

As Photographer, you are responsible for working with Styling Consultants and Studio Team to produce high quality fashion imagery for our e-commerce product pages. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
   Shoot, produce and direct the highest standard of fashion e-commerce imagery alongside the Styling Consultants and Studio team.
   Follow the ASOS photography guidelines to ensure all images are fashionable, editorial and current and shot to the highest standard. Ensure that a high level of imagery is consistent throughout all studios.
   Develop and maintain a full understanding of the studio teams workflow requirements and how this relates to shooting. Ensure good communication with all studio team and all models and make informed decisions on best working practise
   Brief and direct all freelance photographers, ensuring they are completely au fait with the production shooting requirement in terms of pose, mood, and overall feel of the shots. Be a point of contact for all freelance photographers with regards to Studio set-ups, equipment and repairs.
   Give clear and concise model direction on set and be accountable for the poses, mood and overall feel of the product shots alongside the Stylists and Shoot Co-ordinators.
   Ensure the product is shown to its best advantage in order to maximise sales and avoid reshooting
   Demonstrate distinct understanding of studio flash photography, Capture One and Cannon camera system and the ability to translate this knowledge on set
   Fully support Senior Photographers in the management of all studio kit and equipment.Be responsible for conducting weekly inventory of all photography equipment to ensure it is current, in perfect working order, repaired quickly if necessary and in stock as part of our inventory.
   Support Senior Photographers and Stylists to ensure correct lighting throughout all studios, ensuring this is checked every day. Feedback where necessary on improvements and ideas.
   Ensure all changes to lighting, photography, colourama, profile and/or equipment are rolled out efficiently and in conjunction with the Stills and Retouching departments in order to ensure maximum effectiveness.
   Lead the studio set up and pack down each day alongside the freelance team, ensuring all equipment is looked after and stored away correctly.
   Responsibility for safe storage/security of all photographic equipment and stock.
   Understand the requirements for each Senior Stylist and ensure you communicate their different styles to the freelance team in order for them to translate this when working with the team.
   Assess and check skin tones, adjusting image tints and contrast according to seasonal changes
   Work with Shoot Co-Ordinators to ensure best knowledge on all photographic processes allowing for the best product images
   Work with Shoot Co-Ordinator and Stylist to produce daily image update and edit
   Be innovative regarding lighting and shooting techniques to ensure ASOS imagery is ahead of the competition
   Conduct seasonal reviews alongside the Senior Stylists regarding background/colourama, lighting, pose, mood, look and feel. See any changes through to effective completion
   Keep up to date with the latest industrial photographic equipment and styles ensuring ASOS stays with/ahead of our competitors
   Be the main port of call in Senior Photographers absence

   Demonstrate full understanding of the seasonal creative changes
